i love to cook but have no real training, just experimentation. i love healthy, interesting foods, ethnic fusion, and everything from vegan dairy substitutes to fresh home-cleaned venison. there's nothing i won't try, no matter what it may look like, though i like a beautiful presentation as much as the next person. ideas! What are your favorite foods or cuisine types?
i love funky salads, weird fish and dairy combinations, vegitarian main dishes and playing around with venison uses. fave cuisines are thai, southern indian, irish, british, texmex, cuban, italian, scandanavian
My occupation:
project management/graphic design
My favorite healthy restaurants / eateries:
I live in Philly so most of these restaurants are there. The Abbaye (euro-fusion), Cuba Libre (cuban-fusion), the Moshulu (french-ish, fish, delicious-ness), Full Plate (great for vegans and veggies), Nodding Head (microbrew with a Moroccan flair), Little Fish (amazing fish), A Taste of Thai (obvious), Passage to India (the one in Lawrenceville, NJ)
The food(s) I try most to avoid:
i wasn't a fan of Vietnamese when i tried it, but it could have just been the dish. i also tend to stay away from "Americana" because it at this point is just boring to me.
Recommended websites or cookbooks that teach cheaper, easier, healthier or special diets cooking:
Jamie Oliver's cookbook of comfort food and favorites is great- wonderful fish-n-chips and all that. i also have a great collection of vegitarian cookbooks. having been a child afraid of all green things (aside from broccoli and oddly enough brussel sprouts) i am always looking for new ways to use the same old veggies.
